What would happen if SmartLock does not exist?

Imagine there are more than one user editing the same page at the same time. Who gets the priority? What would happen if the users are in the Edit Mode of the same page and click the "save" button one after another?

This would result in errors, of course! When the first user saves a page, the page will be updated. Then when the second user who is still viewing the old content saves the page again, another version is recorded. It is worse if the first user is the Master User and he earlier deleted one or more tag pairs.
